The FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL) club Manchester United have now also announced the signing of their second US Women’s National Team (USWNT) star, the striker Christen Press, coming from the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Utah Royals. Earlier today the club announced the signing of Press’ USWNT teammate, winger Tobin Heath.
The contract for Press is valid until the end of the 2020/2021 season, subject to obtaining a work permit.

The 31-year-old has several spells in Europe since before. After starting her senior career with the American sides Pali Blues and Magic Jack she joined Swedish Damallsvenskan club Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC in 2012, a club she later returned to also in 2018. In Sweden she also played with Tyresö FF in 2013–2014 before joining NWSL club Chicago Red Stars in 2014 and where she played until 2017. Since 2018 she has belonged to another NWSL club – Utah Royals FC.
For the USWNT Press has played 138 senior matches scoring in total 58 goals and she is a two time World Cup champion (2015 and 2019).
Christen expressed her thoughts and feelings about attending the legendary club:
“I’m really excited to be joining Manchester United this season. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to play for such an elite club and beyond ready to get back on the field. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to continue to strive to be my best and to compete for trophies this year. I look forward to this new challenge and I can’t wait to start training with the team.”
The two new United players Christen Press and Tobin Heath, who besides football also are friends and run, together along with two other USWNT teammates – Megan Rapinoe and Meghan Klingenberg, a gender neutral clothing brand called Rə-Inc. A company which they last year started, with the motto “to boldly reimagine the status quo — championing equity, creativity, progress and art.”
The upcoming Manchester derby in FA WSL (November 15) will be something extra to look forward to when Christen Press and Tobin Heath will represent the United side and their fellow USWNT teammates Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis the City side.
