Football Federation Australian (FFA) as well as their equipment supplier NIKE have announced that the new away shirt for the national team will be available also for women early next year after complaints from supporters.
After last week’s heated controversy around fans who weren’t able to buy the Matildas new away jersey in women’s sizes have pushed FFA and NIKE to react quickly. They have now both promised supporters that as early as next year the women models will be available for sale.
Matildas defender Elise Kellond-Knight was one that reacted strongly to the error:

The new identical kit for the Socceroos (men’s national team) and the Matildas (women’s national team) was presented last week with great fanfare and while the home jersey was available in all sizes, the away tunic was not available for sale in women’s sizes.
Timelines & updates regarding on-sale dates and purchase processes will be communicated soon.

“The FFA and Nike have listened to fans and customers and for this reason the away kit will be available for sale from the start of next year. The unavailability of the 2020 away jersey in a woman’s silhouette is not compatible with the values that the FFA wants to promote. The FFA is aware of this and will make efforts to ensure that the next operations will be in line with the vision and the mission of the organization for the sport” a statement read.
Australia will host the 2023 World Cup, which it will co-host with New Zealand.
