Chicago Red Stars striker Yuki Nagasato makes history with loan to men’s club Hayabusa Eleven

National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Chicago Red Stars have announced that their Japanese striker, the 2011 World Cup Champion, Yuki Nagasato will be loaned to Hayabusa Eleven in Japan, an amateur men’s club as part of the Kanagawa Prefecture League.

Nagasato makes therefore history as the first woman playing professionally for Hayabusa Eleven.

The 33-year-old former Japanese international will be on a loan that will end before the 2021 NWSL season.

Nagasato has made 52 NWSL appearances with Chicago Red Stars since her arrival to the club in 2017. She has before that also spells in Australian W-League side Brisbane Roar, English club Chelsea and German Frauen-Bundesliga clubs Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and Turbine Potsdam, the latter club with whom she won the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2010.

With the Japanese national team she has played 138 senior games, scoring 58 goals. Besides the World Cup title in 2011, she was also part of the Japanese team who ended up as Runner-up in the 2015 World Cup edition.
