Swedish Damallsvenskan club Vittsjö have strengthen their squad with the Australian national team player Emily Gielnik who most recently played with the Frauen-Bundesliga club Bayern Munich.
Vittsjö who has title ambitions after finishing the 2019 Damallsvenskan season in third place, have recently also signed with the American striker Heather Williams, KIF Örebro’s best goal scorer last year.
Gielnik, who plays as a striker, has great international experience having played for Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory in Australia’s W-League, with Liverpool, Ottawa Fury, Urawa Red Diamonds as well as the Norwegian Toppserien club Avaldsnes IL.
“It’s a big and strong forward who can also be used as a pocket player or as a winger. She is confident with the ball, good at pushing in depth and finishing with both feet – a class player,” says the head coach of Vittsjö, Thomas Mårtensson to the Swedish newspaper Norra Skåne.
The 28-year-old Gielnik has over 30 international appearances for Australia on a senior level and played with the “Matildas” in the World Cup last year.
